List of professionals working with Calatonia

Calatonia can be integrated into the therapeutic process by psychologists or licensed therapists/psychotherapists. The professional must study the supporting theory, and have supervised clinical experience. These professionals need to experience the process of Calatonia and Subtle Touch as patients as well, to integrate the method on experiential level and not only intellectually.

It is important to make a disclaimer that there are no specific touches for specific complaints, which is why it is so important for practitioners to have a complete understanding of the theory and develop the skills to choose among the techniques. The therapist ultimately is responsible for selecting the technique that is most appropriate at that particular moment in the patient’s therapeutic process, with good clinical judgement and expertise, and not by ‘pre-set prescription’.

The courses taught by Pethö Sándor required a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in psychology or in the areas of education, nursing, medical field, physiotherapy, speech or occupational therapies, and social work.
